Embracing National Reconciliation Week: Our Commitment to Unity and Progress

Posted By
27/05/2024

At Access Mercantile, we believe in the power of unity, understanding, and mutual respect. As we celebrate National Reconciliation Week from May 27 to June 3, we are reminded of the importance of building stronger relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. This year's theme, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.

Join Us in Celebrating National Reconciliation Week

As we observe National Reconciliation Week, we invite our employees, partners, and community members to join us in reflecting on our collective journey towards reconciliation. Here are a few ways you can get involved:

Educate Yourself: Take the time to learn about the history and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Attend local NRW events, read books, watch documentaries, and engage in meaningful conversations.

Advocate for Change: Use your voice to advocate for policies and practices that promote reconciliation. Support initiatives that aim to close the gap in health, education, and employment outcomes for Indigenous Australians.

Reflect and Act: Reflect on your own actions and attitudes towards reconciliation. Consider how you can contribute to a more inclusive and respectful society in your personal and professional life.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.
